A big day in the life of our little man
Yesterday, Joshua took his first steps! He has been interested in standing over the past week or so, but he usually refuses to take any steps unless he is holding on to something. Yesterday, Joshua took several steps toward David. He was very proud of himself. He continued to practice throughout the day, and he thinks it is such a funny game! We also noticed that Joshua has a new tooth. Teeth are kind of old news at this point, but it is his first molar, so it is kind of exciting! Our little guy is growing up extra fast in time to be big brother! Baby sister is due in exactly 2 weeks... whatever that means!:-)

Our little ham at 10 months
We e-mail monthly pictures of Joshua to our family so that they can watch him grow from far away. I decided to share one of this month's pictures that has given all of us a good laugh. Joshua has always been a photogenic little guy. He simply sees the camera and smiles. I am not trying to be a braggy Mom, that is just the way he is. In the last couple of days, it seems Joshua has started to "try" to smile. The picture is an example of his goofy grin. We can add this to the list of things he will do "on command;" when I scrunch my nose at him he responds with this sweet little face... and we respond by laughing a lot, so he repeats. This picture was taken on day number 2 of antibiotics for tonsillitis... what a good sport! Check out those teeth in there!

Teething Biscuit Police
We recently found teething biscuits here and thought we should let Joshua try them. He seemed pretty puzzled the first time I handed one to him. He looked at it, looked at me, and dropped it. After repeating this a couple of times, Joshua began to put the biscuit in his mouth. After a few attempts, he brokeoff more than half of the biscuit in his mouth. I literally had to pry his jaw apart to get it out. He was pretty mad. I now break the biscuit into little pieces and give them to him one by one. If I give him more than one at a time, he will not chew the pieces enough before trying to swallow them. I kind of think this is more work than it is worth! Who knew teething biscuits would be hazardous for teething infants?

Hailstorms, Midnight Monsters, and more...
What a week! It all started Tuesday night with incredible storms. I love storms at night, and I was glad we finally got rain, but Joshua woke up right before it got really loud... and couldn't get back to sleep for a couple of hours after that. I was sound asleep when the storms started, and I kept thinking the lightening was going to cause our battery to explode or cause some other serious problem. David brought a handful of hail in to show us from the balcony, and we gathered all of our emergency candles. We had about 4 hours of power in a 24-hour period, and for once, I thought that there was reason for it! (Not that a reason made it any more enjoyable!)
I don't know if I have ever heard hail that loud before; maybe I have slept through it in the past. All I know is that Joshua hasn't slept through the night since then! I felt pretty rested and compassionate until last night, and then I guess I reached the end of my rope. This morning we got up at 5, and then he took a 3 hour nap, so I am more optimistic that we will get back to normal over the weekend. I am thankful that God knows my limits! We hope that Joshua is teething; he has been unusually fussy. I might feel little teeth in the top and middle of his mouth, but I don't know! The doctor has mentioned that Joshua is teething the last two times we have visited, so we shall see. Needless to say, I am ready for the weekend!
